Guest Lists

Making a guest list is tough. I heard that it's best to start with writing a list of everyone, then cutting it down. So we've started that, and made it from 257 to 205. Crazy! I didn't know that we knew that many people. And there's no more I can cut out, so I'll have to take a look at this later. Man who knew how tough it could be. I think we have to find a way to keep it around 120-150 people. Any ideas?

In creating a guest list, I would do the exact opposite, LOL.

I say, start with immediate family. Then decide if those individuals are going to be allowed dates (I've heard in etiquette books that everything from NO ONE brings a date unless the couple is engaged or married, right up to YOU MUST invite a guest for everyone. It also depends on if you want your wedding to be a social event, or a more ceremonial, intimate religious event.)

Then, you move on to cousins and other more extended fmaily. Like, if you are close with your twice removed third cousin, then you would invite them, but if you haven't heard from them since your kindergarten graduation, then nix them.

I could go on for hours on this topic, LOL. Perhaps I'll email you some more feelings, rather than hogging up all this bandwidth.

Good luck either way Nora!

Maybe pick a date first too. Then you can eliminate by availibities.
I also think Amanda's comment was awesome!

Nora,
I always look forward from returning on the weekends to read new blogs. I check everyday as it is one of my favourite things to do. Keep them up! They are awesome.
