Craziness

Man the next few days are going to be CRAZY! Tomorrow I'm job shadowing, for a new job. And do you know what's interesting? Two other places called me for second interviews. I guess it's true, what they say, "everything happens in threes". So this new job comes of courses while I'm teaching a few adult courses, sewing a costume, writing a letter to parents, meeting a photographer, meeting a florist, going to the bank, baking things for a potluck and open house, finding a doctor, and the list goes on.... That just before Monday. So the new job adds me doing prep work for teaching Extended French to Grade 2's, 5/6's, and 6's. Of course I have to read the IEP's of these students, read the Grade 2 curriculum, figure out the school rules and environment, introduce myself to the parents, photocopy things for the kids to do next week, sign the contract, get ANOTHER TB test (yup, I've had like 6 already), and there are probably another 100 things I'm forgetting to mention. Oh yeah, I'm still looking for my memory - so let me know if you find it somewhere. It's pretty bad, I can't even remember the name of the Principal that hired me, phoned me 3 times, and talked to me a few times. ;) All is good though. =) How's your weekend looking?

Nora

P.S. If you are thinking of asking me to do something this weekend, the answer is now- sorry, I'm not available.

Funky Flowers and Getting organised

As you have probably read, finding a Photographer, a DJ, and a Florist are on the to do list over the next couple of months. The thing is... I'm not totally sure what I want yet for all of that. Well the reality really is, I'm not sure I can get what I want. It's actually easy though... I want a really good deal! Oh yeah this reminds me... hmm... well can you remind me to ask my uncle to take a video of wedding highlights? oh umm, and my friend Misiu is an excellent photographer and partyer, so maybe having him take some of the later reception shots would be great! (Actually he'd probably be better than any photographer since he actually knows us, but alas since he's a good partyer too, it might be tough to get some still camera shots, without him dancing. lol

The DJ is pretty standard, although it'll be tough to find one that can spin both Arabic and English songs, and have it seem like a smooth mix, but we'll see. Let me know if you have an good connections. Jeff and I are also considering making our own CD's.

The Florist, well the florist is a tough one. I mean here's where I probably can't totally get what I want. For centrepieces I've envisioned this great masterpiece somehow incorporating flowers and floating candles, but the design still remains to be figured out. So I'm not really sure how flowers are going to fit into the mix. I guess I should get crackin though - and figure this out soon. The best deign I can come up with incorporates it all, but I end up with small candles instead of a votive, but hey - that's not so shabby. Really I want to MAKE the centrepieces, yet somehow incorporate the traditional flowers. One place I want to check out for sure is anika arts and flowers.com .

Invitations

Invitations are really cool actually, I just can't believe how many are out there! Wow - it's crazy! =)

It's really interesting how they price out invitations. Like if you want 50 it'd cost around $75 (like no envelopes or reply cards, etc.). How much do you figure for 100? Well actually almost $100, not $150 like you'd think. And for 200 invitations $140. I mean you can get ones that cost more than this - but it's just to show that the more you buy the more you "save". So considering we are probably going to need more than 100 invitations, it's actually cheaper to buy them. Yeah, believe it or not I'm actually going to save more money buying the invitations than making them. So I don't get the whole "we saved money by making our own invitations" thing. That's just craziness! I mean unless of course you only made 20 invites. In which case, yeah making your own would be cheaper (you'd probably save 25 cents on each invite - besides I think that you can only order a minimum of 50 cards anyway). So if I were inviting less than 50 people to the wedding, I'd definately consider making invitations, it'd not only save about $20, but it would be fun to make!

Creating things is always a blast, but it doesn't look like it will happen for the 120 invitations that need to go out, but definately for the centrepieces and the favors -spelt the Canadian way Jumoke ;). Now to figure out a theme....

New Counter

So I've decided to post a new counter on the page to help me figure out when to post again. It's seems like people have run out of comments- so... this will help. Also I think as the more fun stuff comes up, people will want to comment more.

Cheers,
Nora

Venue Victory

Hurrah! We have booked the Chateau Cartier! =) *fireworks exploding, trumpet fanfare plays* So save the date - June 16th at 5pm. =) We also might have found a home for around that time, with the closing date being June 19th. Talk about a busy month!

Random Ramblings

31 weeks left until the wedding. And am I panicked?! Nope, but my friends are - lol. Yeah I think they're panicked because I'm not. =) Yup 31 weeks to go, and I'm just happy to have a date and venue. If you know me well, you know that I am a- a procrastinator, and b- I dislike waiting (even though I'm actually a patient person - which comes out in teaching etc.; but I think I'm too restless to actually WAIT). So if I had the wedding completely planned by now, all there would be left to do is WAIT, and I'd drive myself crazy with all the waiting. So instead, having everything spaced out is key. So over the next 8 weeks (by New Year's), I'd like to have figured out the photographer, the DJ, and the dresses. According to the Wedding checklists, I should also have a cake by now, but that's just craziness! Incidently, according to the checklists, a lot happens in the last two weeks- which works out great for me and my procrastinating ways. =)

Not wedding related, but still pretty cool....

Back in June (I think), I wrote about it being Wedding season, naming a half dozen weddings and wedding anniversaries in May. Even though I am a summer baby, a lot of people around me seem to have their birthdays in November. So Birthday celebrations kicked off a couple of weeks ago with my Angela's birthday. Since then there have been celebrations for my Dad's birthday (although we celebrate it officially in another week), Christine's Birthday, Erica's Birthday (even her son's birthday), Colette's Birthday, Rebecca's Birthday, Vera's Birthday (today); and today is Allison's Birthday, AND Adrian's Birthday. Oh yeah, and his son's birthday was a few days ago as well. I'm sure I am missing a few birthdays in there, but hey, this is enough for now.

Today's a special day, and it's super cool, 'cause it's both my Best Friends Birthday, and Jeff's Best Friend's Birthday. Is that awesome or what?! I think it's a cool coincidence. Sorta like my parents both celebrating their birthday's next week. =) Yuppers, both on the same day! Can you say free dinner at Mother Tucker's?! Yeah, it's awesome. My brother's birthday is a couple of weeks later. =) So celebrations galore. Hopefully this doesn't cut into my fitness plan.... Anyways,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISON AND ADRIAN!

Cheers,
Nora
